  1. Just curious, how often does the House win? I would think they have an advantage with having twice the pool to pull from.

Glad everyone had a fun time.

  2. I’m glad they still play the softball game. I recall in the late 70’s / early 80’s when the House used to prevail every year with a guy named Jessie White.

  3. What a great event! Glad its still going. Went once in the late 70s and my dad hit a home run for the House. We also put quarters on the nearby railroad tracks to see what would happen when the train went over them. Good times.

  4. Rep. McLaughlin was blocking the plate. Senator Hastings had nowhere to go.

  5. “Senator Hastings had nowhere to go.”

There was a safty homeplate, 5 ft to his right.

  7. Every year I wind up having a conflict and can’t go. Sadly this year was no exception. Sigh. Glad everyone had a blast.

  8. Looks like both the House and Senate are better than the White Sox.

It was a tag play at the plate. You can’t have a tag play without a tag. He had to go to the normal plate position.

  10. I am so old, I remember when Susana Mendoza was the only woman on the field (and perhaps the first?)

I am glad to see that has permanently changed, but are there no male cheerleaders?

  11. Yellow Dog, women made a push to play in the 1970s. Adeline Geo-Karis is believed to be the first woman to get a hit in the game. Here’s an excerpt from her Daily Herald obituary story from CapitolFax: https://capitolfax.com/2008/02/11/remembering-geo/
